About this Event
Talks from Danielle Macleod and Maisie Delaney about their work and how folklore and mythology inspire them.
Danielle Macleod - A mask maker and photographer based in the Isle of Lewis. Working on medium format film, her photography draws on traditional Hebridean culture, local stories and her upbringing there. Danielle’s photographs reconnect her with her island home in a new dimension, where landscapes become mystical and people become the keepers of mythology. She seeks to deepen our spiritual connections to the places we call home by re-imagining her own through the lens of living legends.
Maisie Delaney - Knitwear designer and fibre artist based in Leith. As well as making garments and accessories Maisie also hand spins yarns. She is inspired by Scottish and Norse folklore. Photo 2
Knit Embroidery Workshop - I will then be hosting a workshop to demonstrate how to use the duplicate stitch to add patterns and designs into knitwear. You can optionally use patches or use knitwear you already own(no fine knit, stitches must be a bit bigger). We will follow designs relating to the themes explored in the talks earlier. These can then be attached using blanket stitch as demonstrated in the 3rd photo.
Optional designs to follow
