Ink artists in Singapore have been pushing the boundaries of tradition, blending innovation with deep cultural roots to redefine the visual language of ink painting. From Lim Tze Peng's bold exploration of xiesheng and Chinese calligraphy, capturing the spirit of spontaneity and life, to Hong Sek Chern’s striking interpretations of urban landscapes, where dense cityscapes meet the fluidity of ink, these artists are creating a dynamic dialogue between past and present, tradition and experimentation.
In this special hands-on workshop led by artist Hong Sek Chern and accompanied by exhibition curator Jennifer Lam, participants will gain insights into Lim Tze Peng’s experimental works through an exhibition tour, as well as hear from Hong Sek Chern about her trajectory in ink art. Finally, participants will get to have practical experience with innovative tools and experimental painting methodologies developed by the artist.
