Artist Workshop: Ekphrastic Poetry With Laura Schulkind

Ekphrastic poetry is writing inspired by visual art. It describes what you see and how it makes you feel. It's not just about the artwork, but your experience of it.
In this hands-on ekphrastic poetry workshop, participants will explore the art of writing poetry inspired by visual works of art and create a poem of their own! Drawing inspiration from artworks in MMA's current Big Sur exhibitions, you'll choose from a few pre-selected pieces to write about. Finished poems will be collected in a notebook that will stay with each artwork. An accompanying poetry reading will take place at MMA's October First Friday.
