Join us each Tuesday evening for the Artist Toolkit workshop series designed to equip artists and creatives with arts business fundamentals, tips and tools.

About the Workshop

Join the City of Gold Coast, Arts and Culture Public Art team as they take you through how Public Art is commissioned in the City and how artists can prepare for public art opportunities.

This bonus Toolkit session is for emerging and established artists wishing to move into professional public art delivery.


About the Facilitators

Dr Anita Holtsclaw and Michelle Oxenham are the Public Art Team for the City of Gold Coast.

Dr. Anita Holtsclaw is the Senior Public Art Officer for the City of Gold Coast. She has over 16 years experience as an artist, curator, director and academic. Working as an arts professional with several local governments, universities, institutions and art spaces she has a special interest in how art can be used to transform the public realm.

Michelle Oxenham has worked across the public and private sector commissioning and managing large scale public artworks as a curator, project manager, researcher and artist for over 15 years. She has worked on public art projects for the National Museum of Singapore, Lend Lease, Aveo, QLD Health, Grocon, Daisho, Brisbane City Council and Melbourne Fashion Week.


Other important information

  • Workshop will be held at the HOTA Basement located at HOTA Central, next to the cafe.
  • We ask that you please arrive at 5.45pm (15 minutes) prior to start time of 6pm.
  • Parking is available at HOTA, free from 5pm
  • Don't forget to bring a notepad and pen or laptop/tablet.
  • Bring a jumper as the room can get chilly!
  • Snacks and light refreshments will be provided.
