Across painting, photography, sculpture and moving image, the exhibition navigates some of the central tensions of his work – the intersections of art, identity, beauty, desire, and commodity; the authenticity of public life; and the space between artifice and reality.
Leading Australian artist Michael Zavros has exhibited widely within Australia and internationally, and most recently in 2023 was the subject of a major career survey at Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), accompanied by the monograph The Favourite.
