Join us for a special artist and craft talk with Louisiana Poet Laureate Gina Ferrara.Gina Ferrara will discuss different methodologies used when writing poetry, with a focus on poems drawn from personal experience as well as poetry informed and inspired by research. This talk offers insight into craft, process, and the many ways poets shape meaning through lived experience and inquiry.
Gina Ferrara is the author of five poetry collections, including Weight of the Ripened and Amiss, with a sixth collection, The Rooted and Recurrent, forthcoming in 2026 from ULL Press. Her work has appeared in Callaloo, The Southern Review, Poetry Ireland Review, Tar River, and more, and has been nominated for Best of the Net and a Pushcart Prize. In 2025, she was appointed Poet Laureate of Louisiana. She also curates The Poetry Buffet, a long-running monthly reading series in New Orleans.
This event is open to writers, students, artists, and anyone interested in poetry and creative practice.
