Join us at Stills for a talk by artist & designer Tamsin Green, discussing her environmentally conscious approach to photobook making.
About this Event

Tamsin will present her own work along with research by the Sustainable Photobook Publishing (SPP) network. She will focus on two of her most recent publications; ‘walking out of sleep: encounters with lichen territory’ (manual.editions: 2023) and 'this is how the earth must see itself: a walk with natural features’ (manual.editions: 2021). These works were both made by walking and responding to the landscape through photographs and words, coupled with the development of photobooks through an iterative process of creative prototyping. By-products and leftover materials from this process have been used as the starting point for new works and associated exhibitions.

The second part of the talk will present the ongoing research and curatorial project developed as part of the SPP network. This project brings together individual books by international artists and publishers in the form of Case Studies, to share knowledge and ask questions about sustainability and the photobook. The associated travelling exhibition, 'The Sustainable Photobook’, premiered at FORMAT23, and has been shown at photography festivals and book fairs in the UK and Europe throughout 2023-4.
