This event features an artist talk by Gardener-in-Residence Stephanie Florence, and an invitation to respond through creative action.
Artists, musicians, poets, gardeners, dancers, and the community at large will be invited to join together in a creative response to Stephanie's recordings of the garden. Stephanie will produce an experimental sound artwork generated from recordings of the Land, Elements, Garden, Plants, and Soil that will be presented to attendees to a score with no set directions.
In their own words:
"I will provide a sound artwork for artists, musicians, poets, singers, and dancers to collaborate with as a base for improvisation. Instruments of any kind, instruments reminiscent of the land, or home made instruments are welcome! Dancers will be on the grass, there is not a dance floor available as we are intentionally connecting with the earth. Poets or writers can bring prewritten work or poems they write at the event. Singers, chanters, and droners are welcome (you know what to do)! All types of art and artists are welcome. We hope to bring together the creative influence of many makers and creatives to produce a resonance and attunement to the lands' vibrations."
Both the artist talk and art happening will be occurring outside the front area of KWAG in the shade of the trees. You are welcome to bring a cushion, blanket, or a foldable chair for your comfort. KWAG will provide limited outdoor seating.
