About the Artist:
Brett Leigh Dicks is a Fremantle-based photographer and in 2023 was Artist in Residence at the Museum of the Goldfields, through ART ON THE MOVE’S Activating Collections program.
Brett approaches the medium of photography through an archaeological lens, exploring the relationship between human society and the environment. He recreates photographs taken between the 1890s and the 1920s by two photographers, John Joseph Dwyer and Thomas Faulkner Mackay, who had a studio on Kalgoorlie's main street.
