Szeretettel várunk minden érdeklődőt Elina Brotherus nyilvános előadására /// We cordially invite you to the artist talk of Elina Brotherus
Elina Brotherus will walk you through her career of lens-based image-making. She started in the 1990s with autobiographical work and moved on to use art histories as a starting point for new pictures. Central to her practice is the use of her own figure - as an instrument of scale, a geometric form, or a human presence.
Elina Brotherus is one of the most recognized contemporary artists from Scandinavia. Brotherus’ art has been alternating between autobiographical and art historical approaches. Her early series on subjective experiences gave way to works dealing with the human figure and the landscape, the relation of the artist and the model. In her current practice she is revisiting Fluxus event scores and other written instructions for performance-oriented art of the 1950s-70s. Another recent theme is architecture: Brotherus photographs in private houses designed by important architects, taking roles of various imagined characters. Her tranquil presence breathes life into these iconic spaces of architectural heritage.
Brotherus' work was most recently on display in the AICA Award-winning exhibition Handle with Care at the Ludwig Museum in Budapest.
Helyszín/venue: MOME TWO, Filmstúdió
Az angol nyelvű esemény nyilvános, a belépés díjtalan.
Sponsored by the Foundation for Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design as part of the Global Voices initiative. / A program a MOME Alapítvány támogatásával, a “Global Voices at MOME” kezdeményezés részeként valósult meg.
