Irène Laub gallery is delighted to host a conversation between Portuguese artist Pedro A.H. Paixão and António Pinto Ribeiro, co-curator of the exhibition Europa-Oxalá at the Africa Museum in Tervuren.The current show presented at the gallery, Le Pas Suspendu, brings together six artists artistes – Lucile Bertrand, Younes Baba-Ali, Rui Calçada Bastos, Eirene Efstathiou, Michèle Magema and Pedro A.H. Paixão – on the theme of borders.
Borders that we sometimes cross in order to better understand and contemplate our own experience, but also to present other views on shared or intimate memories. Mixing historical and philosophical references, Pedro A.H. Paixão's series of turquoise drawings deals with the family heritage and memories of the Angolan-born artist through his vision of Congo’s colonial history.
