ARTIST TALK : KATE SHOOTER / Wicker Woman

Join the above trio within the exhibition to eavesdrop officially on a discussion of the various themes which have arrived through making the work for Wicker Woman, in addition to the artistic process.

Family relationships, body changes via the process of peri-menopause, duality, self acceptance, how making paintings out of this domestic interior psyche-soup happens.

The reciprocity of subject and aesthetics. How making (Art) and particular processes such as automatic drawing, helps ones make sense of the other stuff through the development of a personally symbolic language.

There will be alcoholic and non-alcoholic refreshments on offer, (+ possibly cake) to sustain a guided conversation and then a Q+A.

The talk will be streamed via facebook live or instagram in case you can't make it in person.

The MADE Solo Art Award was established to propel and support the career of artists based in South Wales through the production of a new body of work for exhibition within a year of the award through mentoring and funded studio time.
Made gallery and the artist recipients Zena Blackwell, Lucia Jones, Ellie Young and Kate Shooter have been supported through production grants from the Arts Council of Wales, and since 2021 through the generous sponsorship of HannaH.
