If you're interested in seeing how Sally created some of the works shown in Interference : Interwoven, join us for a hike in the woods where the site-specific artworks from the show are located. Four site-specific weavings will be seen on this art hike. Attendees will get to talk to the artist about her process, see some interesting nature-weavings, and enjoy the beautiful area of Yellow River Park in Stone Mountain, GA.
Afterwards, you'll do a little weaving of your own by the riverside, or in the shade of the pavilion. Sally will guide everyone willing to participate in weaving foraged materials after the hike.
The group will meet at the pavilion of Yellow River Park at 1:30 pm. There are three parking lots for the park: for cyclists, horseback riders, and pedestrians. We're meeting in the pedestrian area. Signs are prominently displayed at each lot.
How long will the hike last?: The event will take place between 1:30pm and 3:30pm. The active hiking time will be approximately 45 mins to 1 hr.
What to wear: Hiking gear is recommended, but not necessary. We will be hiking on trails that contain rocks, roots, and dirt. There will be a few hills/inclines on our route. Please keep this in mind when choosing shoes to wear.
What to bring: A bottle of water. Food if you want to bring any. A hat/sunglasses if its really sunny. A raincoat/umbrella if it rains. ... Anything else you might want to bring for an easy hike!
What if there's rain?: The art hike will still happen if there is light rain. However, in case of really bad weather, the event organizer has the right to cancel or reschedule the event. If this happens, you will get an email updating you of this news. By registering for this event, you are choosing to inform the artist of your intent to attend. Should you change your mind, please kindly update your registration by clicking "Contact the Organizer" at the bottom of your confirmation email.
