Cathy Durkan, a passionate amateur photographer, demonstrates her passion for the world of wildlife & landscape through her photography. Originally from the suburbs of Philadelphia, Cathy discovered her passion for photography during her early years as a radiologic technologist in the 1990s. There were similarities in the thinking behind plain film radiography and film photography that piqued her interest and has since advanced to digital photography.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Cathy shares her life with Kris Whitenack, a partner who supports and appreciates the art she creates through her camera. The images in this show focus mainly on those captured in both Ireland and Durham, NC, the latter being where she has called home for over 20 years. In fact, all bird photos on display were captured in the backyard of their home in Durham, with many of the flowers from her father's garden at the family home in Ireland.
Cathy continues to seek opportunities to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary, one frame at a time.
