About this Event

Come watch and enjoy this fantastic rising artist before they embark on their UK tour in May.

ROLLING STONE recently called them a group of "experimentalists making ‘trauma techno’"

DIYMAG said that they are a band "flexing the full breath of their electro-punk muscle"

Chalk is an Irish three-piece post-punk/electronic project based in Belfast.

Influenced by their love of film and the emerging Belfast dance scene, Chalk’s image-driven soundscape is composed of wailing guitars, a relentless rhythm section, and a raw, visceral spoken-word style. Their visual approach (as seen in their self-made music videos), interweaves with their sound in an evocative fashion.

Chalk’s debut single, ‘Them’, which won Steve Lamacq’s 6 Music Roundtable Record of the Week, was recorded with producer Chris Ryan (Just Mustard, NewDad, Enola Gay). Their second single ‘Velodrome’ continued this run of independent success, earning them a spot on the much sought-after BBC Radio 1 Next Wave segment with Jack Saunders and further support from Lamacq. Third single ‘Static’ served as the bands coming-out single, with widespread media acclaim from the likes of DIY, Gigwise, The Independent, The New Cue and more. The trio will release their debut EP on May 5th and have signed with Mother Artists (IDLES, Cat Le Bon, First Aid Kit).

Chalk is Ross Cullen (Vocals), Benedict Goddard (Guitar, Synth), Luke Niblock (Drums).
