“I have had a 30 year business career in fashion and accessories, both importing and marketing, and have always been interested in fashion, fabrics and accessories.
Joining the Handspinners and Weavers Guild of South Australia four years ago, I learnt about different fleece, sorting it, and how to hand spin it, which was a wonderful learning experience for my journey. I joined the Wednesday Felters three years ago and was instantly inspired. It was thrilling to felt a bowl in a short time with an explosion of wool fibre and imagination.
Combining all these learnings, my passion is turning recycled materials into wearable art, incorporating raw wool off the sheep and goat. Those lustrous curls, natural or dyed, are fascinating. I love to felt them in such a way to show their beauty.
I visit many op shops searching for beautiful fabrics, visualising and creating. I prefer to create functional items, wall hangings and wearable art. The scope and possibilities of what can be done in all things felt is enormous and the journey I take ignores conformity and gives me freedom to portray my feelings.”
