This staff-led gallery conversation explores the work of Fariba Ferdosi, an Iranian artist whose practice bridges Tehran and Florence. Drawing from religious iconography, personal heritage, and political unrest, Ferdosi crafts deeply poetic reflections on power, fragility, and the instability of borders.Featured in "Glasstress Boca Raton 2025" is:
β "Nido/Corona" (2023), a striking glass sculpture that reimagines the crown of thorns as a barbed-wire nest. Spanning nearly five feet, the piece evokes both shelter and threat, inviting reflection on identity, displacement, and the porous nature of boundaries. Its glass form amplifies a sense of vulnerability, where even sharp divisions can fracture and fade.
As Ferdosi writes, βIt is a thorny, treacherous nest which I can either watch from outside or inhabit from within... thorny borders are never absolute but change, migrate, break their meaning over time.β
