Join Barbara in Gallery 3 as she shares her passion for working sustainably using old blankets, clothes, doileys and discarded sewing staches to make art. Barbara will also provide insight into the inspiration behind her current exhibition, Ebb & Flow, where she has stitched strips of rejected woollen blankets and clothing to form the lines and swirls of landscapes.
Just as maps tell stories of travelling over the land, these textile landscapes tell a story of the forces that have formed them – weather, time, and human use/misuse.
Some places seem still and timeless. Others are changing rapidly. Fast or slow, everything is constantly forming and eroding. This is the Ebb and Flow of our world.
