Our free feedback sessions are a chance to get feedback on your work from a practicing artist in a supportive space.
About this Event

Taking place at the end of each month, our free feedback sessions are a chance to get feedback on your work from a practicing artist in a supportive and friendly environment. All kinds of creative work are welcome.

April's feedback session will be led by Turf studio holder Anita Wadsworth.

There are five slots available for showing work, but all are welcome to join in the discussion! Please arrive promptly to ensure your place. Email us your images and any additional requirements at [email protected] if you’d like us to get images up full scale on our projector.

ABOUT ANITA WADSWORTH

Anita Wadsworth is an artist who uses text, textiles and everyday objects in one to one events and public interventions that aim to connect and comfort. Gentle instructions are often used as “scores” for the audience to re-frame everyday actions.

Her work has been shared in different settings including libraries, art galleries, shopping centres, theatres and pubs. She was awarded Arts Council Funding in 2021 to explore how neurodiversity can be made visible, explored and regulated through art.

As a facilitator, she has delivered workshops in the community and for organisations such as The Southbank Centre, the V&A, DanceWest, Stratford Circus Arts Centre, Apples and Snakes and the National Autistic Society. She also co-created SLiDE Dance in Croydon as a platform for dance and
creatively for all.

Anita is currently showing at Turf in the exhibition Solastalgia and performing as part of the Fungus Press residency Route Masters.

ABOUT TURF:

Founded in 2013 by Croydon locals, Turf is Croydon’s homegrown artist space and the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in the borough. Based in Croydon’s Whitgift Shopping Centre, we put on free exhibitions 7 workshops, provide affordable artist studios, run a free creative project space for locals & host a number of other local creative organisations and collectives. A registered charity, Turf aims to provide paid opportunities for artists and creatives who might otherwise be undersupported.

WORKSHOP CODE:

Turf aims to be a space where all are welcomed & respected. We ask all attendees to align with this spirit when booking and support us in creating a welcoming & collaborative atmosphere together. We ask that everyone is;

  • Kind and respectful in our language and behaviour towards others. Turf is a space which is anti racism, sexism, homophobia and ableism.
  • Considerate of others' time; allowing others room to speak & engage.
  • Respectful of the space itself as belonging to many people, treating the space & objects with care.
  • Attend wherever possible: In 2023, around 30% of people booking free tickets didn't turn up! Our free tickets are limited and in high demand. Every person who doesn't turn up means someone else can't attend, so please let us know if you can't make it to free up a space. If you don’t attend twice or more without letting us know, you may be restricted from booking again.
