Afterwards, artists will meet visitors and will sign their works in our Maritime Gallery. The Artist Talk and Book Signing is a special event for the Process to Print exhibition, which runs February 2–28, 2026 and is included with paid museum admission. The Artist Talk and Book Signing is free and open to the public.
Massie Heritage Center, in collaboration with the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) Southern Breeze Region, will host “Process to Print,” a dynamic pop-up exhibition in celebration of Black History Month 2026.
This special exhibition shines a spotlight on the creativity, process, and storytelling of African American illustrators whose work continues to inspire readers and artists across generations. Each participating illustrator will be featured on a banner showcasing their biography and step-by-step creative process—from concept sketch to published illustration.
In partnership with the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS), the program will include school visits, a juried student art and writing competition, and community outreach encouraging young creators to see themselves reflected in the stories they read and the art they make.
"Process to Print" is made in partnership with SCBWI Southern Breeze Region, with a grant sponsored by SCBWI.ORG.
