Our Artist academy helps young artist develop their skills, creativity and individuality. This class runs September - Mid May on Monday and Wednesday afternoons with registration offered by the semester or by the month. We start with the basics and move forward to more detailed projects. In May we have an Artist Reception to celebrate their accomplishments.Sept- Mid Nov - we explore drawing techniques, including one and two point perception, value, shading, still life, and expanding out to charcoal and ink wash.
Mid Nov - Jan we put those drawing skills to work by sketching out our work and move to acrylic painting. We will discuss blending, types of brushes and techniques, palette knife and heavy body textured acrylics.
Feb- we explore resin, molds, UV epoxies, and jewelry making.
Mar- we explore mixed media, newsprint, bookbinding, and abstract arts
Apr- this is the perfect month to start with watercolors. Students will learn how to use drawing gum, rubbing alcohol, plastic film and salts to create textures within their watercolor designs.
May - is the month of your favorite medium and our Artist reception. 3rd-8th grade
