Looking to learn the secrets behind how to make an authentic New York City bagel with its classic "chewy, yet firm on the outside" texture? With the help of a celebrated local baker who's trained under the watchful eye of New York's top bagel makers, it's time for an after-hours bagel baking experience like no other.
Join New York Adventure Club and NYC Bagel Tours as we embark on an exclusive bagel making, baking, and tasting experience at an award-winning bagel shop right in the heart of Manhattan. In this special holiday edition, we'll be using red & green and blue & white dough to create iconic Christmas and Hanukkah bagel creations.
Led by New York's "Bagel Ambassador" Sam Silverman and award-winning baker Reva Castillenti, our after-hours experience designed for all levels of bakers will include:
- An overview of the bagel's evolution from niche bread variety to an American breakfast staple
- Hands-on bagel crafting throughout the experience, from rolling to boiling and seeding to baking
- A behind-the-scenes tour of the bagel shop to see how some of New York's best bagels are made
- The opportunity to enjoy your freshly baked bagel creations straight from the oven
- Complimentary soft drinks to keep you hydrated through the class
- A glass of champagne with an everything bagel rim to ring in the (almost) New Year
- Holiday props and decor for plenty of photogenic bagel moments
Afterward, you'll get to take home a dozen bagels, and a bagel recipe list featuring expert tips and tricks to recreate the perfect bagel in your own kitchen.

About Reva and Sam
Reva Castillenti started her career as a sculptor, but eventually found her true passion in the art of bread-baking. She spent years perfecting her craft, sourcing native and heritage flours for her baguettes and bagels, and teaching others the art of bread-making. Reva's bagels won second place at the World Bread Awards in both 2018 and 2019, and her expertise has been sought after by home bakers and professionals alike.
Sam Silverman is the brains behind NYC Bagel Tours. Since 2017, he's delved deep into the bagel world, earning him the title of New York's "Bagel Ambassador." Recognized as one of Brooklyn’s 50 Most Fascinating People by Brooklyn Magazine in 2023 for his flagship event, the New York BagelFest, his bagel knowledge is unparalleled. Sam’s favorite bagel? An everything bagel with scallion cream cheese - not toasted, of course.
