MAGASIN 4 PRESENTS :ARTIFICIAL BRAIN (US) (Death Metal)
Artificial Brain are a progressive and technical death metal quintet from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2011, they have, since their self-titled demo, merged technical ferocity, alien dissonance, and blackened cosmic atmosphere. With the Butchering Cosmic Giants EP (2013), they caught the attention of Profound Lore Records. Their debut full-length Labyrinth Constellation (2014), shaped under the guidance of Colin Marston, established a dense, cerebral, and claustrophobic sound. Infrared Horizon (2017) expanded their sonic range, tearing through electronic-infused landscapes and crafting new metallic textures. Their latest chapter, the 10-track, 45-minute self titled Artificial Brain (2022), stands as the culmination of a decade-long vision, featuring iconic guest appearances from Mike Browning (Nocturnus) and Luc Lemay (Gorguts) that intensify its sonic atmosphere.
SUFFERING HOUR (US) (Death Metal)
Suffering Hour are a blackened death metal band from Forest Lake, Minnesota. Forming under a different name as a tech-thrash band in 2010, the band carried their sense of manic chaos and old-school structure into the world of cosmic black death. Their unique sound garnered high acclaim with their 2017 debut record In Passing Ascension, a guitar-driven slab of nihilistic savagery. This sound was then further explored on their 2019 EP Dwell, a single 18 minute track proving their unrelenting songwriting prowess. The band has since played numerous shows and fests across the globe, most notably: Maryland Deathfest, Covenant Montreal/Vancouver and Killtown Deathfest, plus a European tour with Malthusian and a U.S. run with Sinmara.
ABYSMAL DESCENT (BE) (Death Metal)
ABYSMAL DESCENT is a new Death Metal entity emerging from Brussels (BE).
Forged from the ashes of Dehuman by R.S, L.L. (Putrid Offal, Echo Solar Void, Emptiness) and M.D. (Echo Solar Void). This triumvirate of darkness has conjured a harrowing requiem of Death Metal that looms ominously in the shadows. R.M. (Neptunian Maximalism) and A.L. (Saqra’s Cult) soon joined the macabre orchestra to add abyssal bass-lines and old school laments on this dripping death music.
While inspired by the mighty legends of the genre, such as Immolation and Morbid Angel, as well as more recent acts like Blood Incantation or Grave Miasma, ABYSMAL DESCENT delivers a dark and hypnotic Death Metal. The diverse background of each member, oscillating between the slowest and heaviest doom, wild psychedelic experimentations, and the relentless rage of traditional Black and Death Metal, creates a unique and distinctive musical experience.
