Drop by the BMA for a midday art fix! Katelyn Crawford, PhD, The William Cary Hulsey Curator of American Art, and Hina Zaidi, Curatorial Assistant, will discuss the newly reinstalled Ancient American gallery at the BMA. Featuring new research and interpretation, they will highlight key works spanning millennia and created across the Americas. Works in the gallery include jewelry, hand-built pottery, and carved stone and bone that help us to understand how ancient Americans viewed life and death, the heavens and the underworld, and their place in their communities.Image credit: Ceremonial Bird Effigy Metate, Volcanic stone, 300–700 CE.
