First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages. This month we’re looking at the breadth of the European collection, which offers a remarkable journey through six centuries of European art history, and celebrating the work of Impressionist artists and the movement that began 150 years ago. Come to spend time in the galleries, enjoy stories and music, and make art of your own.
A closer look at the fun this month from 11-2 pm:
Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
Storytime with Omaha Public Library, 11 am; get comfortable in our new Community Room for this storytime program. There also will be opportunities to sign up for a library card, check out a book, and learn more about all the great things happening at area libraries.
Special Performance by Omaha Academy of Ballet.
Check out our two Art Cart stations in Joslyn Building galleries, with opportunities to talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers, touch hands-on materials, play some Gallery-Games-A-Go-Go, and take home an art prize!
Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching the wide variety of works in the European Art galleries in the Joslyn Building—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
Visit Studio 1 to create a work of art inspired by work in the European art collection. All ages are welcome.
The Founders Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale, The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests, and Art Works: A Place for Curiosity is designed to be an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (please note that children must be accompanied by adults). We also have designated our Founders Room as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and simple games.
Thanks to program partner Omaha Public Library.
