Fashion in Art First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages. The Joslyn’s collection offers an opportunity to explore fashion across time and cultures, with a variety of activities.
A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Enjoy performances by local artists—Gauri Ratheesh Nair, an Indian Classical Dancer, and the Raíces de México group performing folkloric dances—with short talks about the traditional clothing they wear while dancing.
• In the studio, create your own work of art with teaching artist CaSandra Johnson.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials, try on a few fancy coats and vests, and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
• Join a public tour, led by our Gallery Volunteers, at 1 pm, The Joslyn’s Highlights. Free, drop-in experience.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
