Celebrating "Dripping Earth: Cannupa Hanska Luger"First Saturdays of the month are for art fun! Stop by for gallery activities, special presentations, and creative exploration designed for all ages. Celebrate artistic creativity today as we spend time in the newly-opened ambitious and immersive exhibition, "Dripping Earth: Cannupa Hanska Luger." Luger’s work draws inspiration from his ancestral connection to the Northern Plains while also looking to the future in imaginative ways.
A look at the fun this month from 11 am–2 pm:
• Begin at our Welcome Table in the Hawks Pavilion! Pick up a program and map for the day. We can let you know about membership opportunities, upcoming programs, our Bloomberg Connects digital guide, and Art Card self-guide resources. We also can help with any accessibility needs.
• Out & About Storytime with Omaha Public Library, 11 am. There will be opportunities to learn about all the great things happening at area libraries.
• Join us for an all-ages presentation called "We Are the Buffalo and the Buffalo Are Us!" by Renee Sans Souci, Umoⁿhoⁿ educator.
• In the studio, create your own work of art.
• Check out our Art Cart station, with opportunities to touch hands-on materials and talk about art with our friendly Gallery Volunteers.
• Drop-In Sketching! We have all the materials you need for sketching—a great way to slow down and look carefully at what you see.
• Join a public tour, led by our Gallery Volunteers; 11 am, "Dripping Earth: Cannupa Hanska Luger;" and at 1 pm, The Joslyn’s Highlights. Free, drop-in experiences.
• The Founder’s Room is designated as a quiet space for this event, stocked with an array of books and games.
• Due to the generous support of Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All program, "Dripping Earth: Cannupa Hanska Luger," is free to all today; always free to Joslyn members.
• Don’t forget to check out more great spaces—The Cafe offers food and drink for sale. The Shop has beautiful art items for all ages and interests. If you are part of an intergenerational group, be sure to visit Art Works: A Place for Curiosity, an interactive space with nine different art activity stations (children must be accompanied by adults).
