Art Summer Camp at Studio Hue 53

Come join us for a fun-filled Art Summer Camp at Studio Hue 53! Get ready to unleash your creativity with a variety of art projects and activities. Our experienced instructor/owner (Angela Portillo) will guide you through painting, drawing, and more. This camp is perfect for young artists looking to explore different mediums and techniques. Make new friends, learn new skills, and have a blast creating art! Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to express yourself and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Children must be at least 7 years of age on the first day of the camp to attend.

Week 1 / First Half of the Day /Composition

We discuss the works of Piet Mondrian. We use straight lines and primary colors to compose and abstract collage

Week 1 / Second Half of the Day / Symbols & Line Types

We discuss the works of Joan Miro. We paint a variety of lines, shapes and symbols on top of a chalk print. We embellish our work with primary colored oil pastels.

Week 2 / First Half of the Day / Action

We discuss the works of Jackson Pollock. We drip and flick color shapes to create an action.

Week 2 / Second Half of the Day / Found Objects

We discuss the works of Louise Nevelson. We assemble found objects in an imaginative way and coat them with a single unifying paint color.

Week 3 / First Half of the Day / Organic Shapes

We discuss the works of Henri Matisse. We “draw with scissors” to create a variety of organic shapes. We compose an abstract paper collage with shapes.

Week 3 / Second Half of the Day / Large Scale Tracing

We discuss the works of Leonardo da Vinci. We trace and cut life size silhouettes of our bodies and embellish details to make self portraits.

Week 4 / First Half of the Day / Shapes, Patterns, and Color

We discuss the cubist portraits of Pablo Picasoo. We play with bold painted shapes, patterns and colors to make Picasso inspired portraits.

Week 4 / Second Half of the Day / Stamping and Repetition

We discuss several prints by Andy Warhol. We play and experiment with hand-printing, cutting and gluing to collage a graphic image with repeating handprints.
