Hello everyone! Art therapy is one of the many approaches in psychotherapy, and with growing research behind the practice of neuroaesthetics, one growing in importance. Art can be an incredible way to create expression, identify emotion, and to connect with different versions of the self. This workshop consists of three different sessions, each one working with a different art medium. You can attend all three, or choose one or two.
Day 1: (13/6)
Exploring how art affects the brain, and understanding why art is so important in the world of psychology. In our first session, we will be moving through a guided meditation to find the subject of our art piece. Today, we will be using canvas and paint, and working to take self-criticism out of our artwork.
Day 2: (20/6)
Day 2 will begin by connecting with our breath. Jumping in, I will cover the basics of a therapeutic approach called Internal Family Systems Therapy. Using this, we will be creating a space to explore the different versions of ourselves, and expressing them using colored pencils. You may be surprised when not only different versions of self, but also different ages of self want to come forward to steal the spotlight.
Day 3: (27/6)
The last day of our workshop will be focused around our values. For those more logical thinkers, we will be doing a value exercise to see how we are living our values currently, and where we might need a little bit more focus. Here, we will be using crafting material to create a sculpture, (windchime, statue, hanging ornament, etc.) to represent our values and have it as a daily reminder in our homes.
As a mental health professional, I have been working as an integrative psychotherapist for the past three years, and I’ve seen the importance of art in the clients I work with time and time again. This workshop is based around art, but its roots are from psychotherapy. There will be a great emphasis on mental tools and exercises you can use today and in the future. I am not a great artist myself, however, working with art without having to be perfect is just as much of a skill.
Each day of the workshop is 25 Euros (30 Euros if purchased on the day of)
All three workshops are 70 Euros total.

***This workshop is not to be used in place of regular therapy. If you are in need of extra support or are experiencing psychological distress, please let me know and I can help you find the proper resources or we can set up a session independently. Some parts of the workshop may bring out difficult emotions. At any point in time, if you need a break, it feels like too much, or you feel the need to stop, listen to your mind and body and let me know. I will be doing regular check-ins as well.
