About this Event
In this fun session you will explore what it means to find inspiration by working with non traditional subject matter; rethinking our approaches to traditional ways of working and expression… sometimes as artists we find we are uninspired or ‘stuck’ so this is a great session for challenging our mind-set of can’t and inject it with a bit of renewed enthusiasm for making art….it is not all about what we see!
You will begin with a short introduction where you will explore the meaning and idea of art and being an artist, the concepts, objectives and how we can begin to discover our own voice and artist endeavour. There will be guided exercises, and during these we can begin to explore in more depth the idea of composition/shape and form and colour, mark making and letting go. The creative exercises will challenge us to ‘step out of the box’ and really work intuitively. At times this may mean working Collectively or individually and with a range of materials provided . The concept and theory behind this is that by making art you are doing the very essence of what art and creativity is…your doing it! We need to create in order to move our paintings and ideas forward, and by spending time developing this we are laying the foundations of more specific and directed paintings to emerge.
This workshop is designed for all, regardless of experience. Even the most professional artist gets stuck. Revolutionise your practice and learn to find your own talent and narrative and allow yourself the opportunity to explore, experiment and enjoy the freedom of discovery and spontaneity. Led by Ruth Bateman you will be fully supported and guided throughout. This workshop is designed to be about the process; so an open mind and willingness to explore is important. All materials are provided but if you have any sketchbooks, paints or dry materials like pens and paintbrushed please feel free to bring them along.
