It's a month before Freezerburn, time to make a warm and fancy hooded fleece cloak!LoriBug will demonstrate two slightly different but super simple ways to make a fleece cape.
1. Super simple just cut a hole in the middle for your head cape. I love this cause it can be a blanket, under blanket, and cloak all in one. Perfect for cold burns. No sewing needed.
2. Not quite as simple hooded cloak. Only two pattern pieces and moderate sewing.
Notes:
• Fleece in 100s of patterns can be found at JoAnn’s, joann.com.
• Always use a coupon or buy on sale - expect to spend between $5 per yard for the thinner stuff, and $10 per yard thicker. Total fabric costs could vary between $15 and $50.
• You want to get a 57 in./59 in./60 in. wide piece of fabric
• For a long cape with hood, about 4.5 to 5 yds of fabric
• For the super simple blanket/cape, get about 3 yds
• The long cape with hood has two pattern pieces: one is the hood and one is for the front/back. There will be minimal straightforward sewing.
• Fleece does not ravel so you don’t have to hem.
• If you want to make a cloak at the class, you will need to bring fleece fabric and a pair of good scissors. For the hooded cape, bring some binder clips.
• I will bring the pattern pieces
• I will bring my Super Fast Juki straight stitch sewing machine with a variety of threads. I can either sew it for you or show you how to use the machine.
