“In-Site” is a duo exhibition proposed by the combined artistic vision of ceramicist Hans Chew and printmaker Nathan Tan.

Brought together by their common beat to interrogate the coexistence of nature and the man-made. This exhibition celebrates the individual and collaborative visions of both artists in honour of their personal artistic journeys with their respective mediums—ceramics and printmaking.

At its core, "In-Site" represents a bold declaration and reflection by the artists. To redefine the artistic and technical boundaries in their own practices of ceramics and printmaking.

This exhibition explores the intersection of forms, textures, and visual narrative through Hans Chew's industrial-inspired ceramic that blends industrial aesthetics with handmade intricacy, reflecting on the urban-natural relationships and Nathan Tan's evocative prints that offer glimpses of untouched but disturbed natural landscapes, inviting contemplation on human impact and nature’s resilience.

Journey through contrasting realms in this curated exploration, where art, nature, and human creativity converge. "In-Site" invites you to delve into a transformative dialogue on our shared footprint within the natural world.

This exhibition will also be holding space for conversations with the artists on the 27th of July, welcoming all topics that are direct, ambiguous and abstract.

About Artist

Hans Chew

Hans Chew (b. 1997) is a ceramic artist currently based in Singapore. He graduated with a major in ceramics from Tama Art University, Tokyo, Japan. Apart from making functional pottery, which he views as bread and butter in ceramics, he also creates objects in search of himself. His works often deal with themes of foreignness, discord and nostalgia. As clay is a highly tactile medium, he strongly believes that the ability to think with both hands is equally as important as the ability to conceptualise and communicate one's thoughts.

Nathan Tan

Nathan Tan (b. 1995) is a Singaporean artist and printmaker. He graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA). His practice involves documenting everyday human trail recordings across Singapore’s overlooked corners via methods including found objects and unique compositions. Through his technically proficient and stylistically varied printmaking, he provides audiences with windows into his ecosystemic narratives, including environmental and anthropological concerns.
