THIS IS A 4 WEEK COURSE 1st JULY to 22nd JULY
In this 4-week course, you will learn how to start a creative journal to help you explore daily life through art.
Allowing yourself the space to find creative freedom, express your thoughts and emotions, Art Journalling can help create a sense of wellbeing.
There are no rules, no right or wrong way to journal. During the course you will explore various art techniques and materials helping you find creative confidence and rid the fear of a blank page! Art Journalling can be a form of creative self-care.
All materials will be provided along with a journal to keep and work on beyond the group. It is a place to record your thoughts, memories and emotions through images, art and words.
Bev is a multidisciplinary artist who loves sharing their arts and crafts knowledge and helping others find wellbeing. @bevrhodesart
Week 1 - Introduction session. A look at art journal examples, journalling prompts, where to find inspiration. Marbling paper. Creating first page in journal.
Week 2 - Abstract painting. Explore painting with music as inspiration. Use non-traditional materials for mark making.
Week 3 - A look at mindful doodling and reverse colouring. Create own patterns or recreate others.
Week 4 - Mixed media collage. Using magazines, paint and pens.
The course is suitable for complete beginners or those wanting to refresh their skills.
Hot drinks and biscuits are included.
To ensure this Art Journalling Course is accessible to everyone we have made it Pay What You Can for the 4-week Course. We have suggested £10 per session to help cover costs but if this is not affordable for you then please input what you can. (When booking, please add a donation of however much you can afford for the 4-week course). Any donation is welcome. Stitch-Up CIC is a social enterprise and any profits we make are reinvested straight back into delivering our creative community projects supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged people in Leeds to learn new skills and improve wellbeing.
We will also be using this time to gain feedback from participants about what creative activities they would like to see going forward at Meanwood Community Centre so all feedback is greatly appreciated.
There is ample parking available at the Community Centre Car Park. If you cannot fit in the Car Park, please park on the main part of Stainbeck Avenue, with consideration to the residents please do not park in the cul-de-sac.
The Stitch-Up Studio is to the rear of the Community Centre. Once you arrive in reception please follow the signs for Stitch-Up.
