About this Event
If you're a writer interested in creating art in words, this event is for you. Join us with Richmond-based artist/poet Rumi Ryan to explore your creative voice and expand your capacity for expression.
Specifically, we will:
- Practice expressing our feelings using imagery
- Think collectively about details to include in our writing
- Experience a deeper connection to our artistic voice
As creative lead at Black Author Brand, Ryan works with authors to develop polished literary work that captivates with imagery and creative storytelling. rumi's unique approach to art combines several modalities including poetry, music, conversation, and visuals. thoughts + pieces, an interactive book of poetry, is her debut collection.
This event is a collaboration between the DC Writers' Salon and Inner Loop.

Based in Dupont, the DC Writers' Salon is a studio and community for writers. The Salon helps us make space and time for what we love to do: write. But more than that, it invites us to engage with the otherwise solo, and sometimes grueling, process of writing in a way that's more connected and accountable. Learn more at DCWritersSalon.com.
The Inner Loop cultivates and promotes the distinctive literary culture of Washington, DC by connecting both emerging and established writers to each other and to their community. “Bad Questions" is The Inner Loop’s March Author’s Corner spotlight, a multi-platform publicity campaign that supports local authors and their books from independent publishers.
