We are delighted to welcome Dr Ceri Thomas and David Moore to Penarth Literary Festival for an afternoon of artistic discussion. Both authors will give a 10-15 minute presentation about their most recent books and then be in-discussion with renowned art history lecturer Stella Grace Lyons.
Dr Ceri Thomas is a London-born art historian, curator and artist of Welsh parentage. Based in south Wales, Ceri specialises in the history of art in Wales over the last 100 years. He is currently the Vice President (South Wales) of the Royal Cambrian Academy of Art, based in Conwy. He has curated exhibitions for the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, National Assembly for Wales, National Library of Wales (which holds examples of his art), National Waterfront Museum and many others. His latest book Shaping Art in Wales was published by the H'mm Foundation at the end of 2023.
David Moore is a writer and independent curator with an interest in modern Welsh visual art and public art collections. He has worked extensively in Welsh museums and galleries and established the regional art gallery in Brecon where he built up the art collection with support from Brecknock Art Trust, which he jointly founded. Here he ran an exhibition programme featuring many Welsh artists. His latest book Ray Howard-Jones: My Hand is the Voice of the Sea was published by Graffeg last year.
Stella Grace Lyons is a freelance Art History lecturer, speaker and writer accredited with The Arts Society. Stella gained her BA in the History of Art from the University of Bristol and her MA in History of Art from the University of Warwick. She spent a year studying Renaissance art in Italy at the British Institute of Florence, and three months studying Venetian art in Venice. Stella runs her own online lectures, 'Stella Talks', which frequently attract listeners from across five continents. She is also a regular lecturer for various travel companies, London-based private members' clubs, and small, boutique cruise ships. For more information, visit: www.stellagracelyons.co.uk
