Join us on the second Sunday of the month to explore your creative side.
Experience mindful approaches to art-making and try new techniques and mediums as you express yourself and enhance your wellbeing. Find your voice while you cultivate creativity. These sessions are ideal for participants seeking to connect with themselves, their creativity and community. Each session will focus on different themes and mediums.
In this workshop you will use the animals featured in the current exhibition ZOONOSES and use them as inspiration to create your very own linocut print. Like the exhibition, the workshop will combine the repetitious and symmetrical aesthetic of wallpaper overlaid with your animal print. The workshop will encourage mindfulness through the repetitious nature of printmaking, so we encourage you to come along and enjoy this introduction to printmaking, as well as our current exhibition.
ZOONOSES exhibition: ZOONOSES explores how we perceive certain animal hosts in the context of fear of their association to disease. Through drawing and lithography, artist Dr Nicola Hooper uses fairy-tale iconology and rhymes, and associated anthropomorphism to both discuss and educate about zoonotic viruses (animal diseases that cross-over to humans).
Acknowledgements: ZOONOSES is a touring exhibition of works by Dr Nicola Hooper presented by Logan Art Gallery, Logan City Council, in partnership with Museums & Galleries Queensland. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program, and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Proudly sponsored by Haymes Paint.
