Gelli Plate printing is user friendly and a very simple method for making an image. Every print is a surprise and can be built upon and transformed into yet another surprising image. The possibilities are endless!In this 3 hour workshop, students will be supported with easy step by step instructions and demonstations. You will be guided in how to monoprint with gelli plates in an environment that enables and encourages fun and exploration of this creative and often spontaneous process.
Your tutor will touch on the care of your Gelli plate and brayer (roller); as well as explore a selection of surfaces and the materials used in the process of printing. You will be working with the provided Acrylic Paints and Paper on the day, or you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer.
Time permitting, you will conclude the session with "non-perfection" and play where you will cut and paste images in your very own artist book. This will also be an opportunity to share your creative adventure and findings with your fellow classmates.
Materials are included in this workshop.
We request you bring an assortment of items to print with - leaves, fabric, cutouts, etc. These will get paint on them so please keep that in mind when making your selection.
You go home with the knowledge and basic tools to complete any unfinished work and/or begin a project with your new found skills.
