It took a long time for Art to find his voice after art school. While searching for this voice, he spent years traveling all around (including two stints of living in Japan) and bounced between teaching and tattooing. Finally, he settled in higher education, receiving a PhD in Applied LIngusitics in 2014.
In 2017, Art began painting and never looked back. In December of 2019 he completed his first Artist Residency in France. During the pandemic, Art expanded to work dimensionally in sculpture.
On August 3, the sanctuary of Mosaic Church will be filled with bright, unique works that Art lovingly refers to as "nerd art." In his own words:
"I have layers of meaning integrated into what I make. If you want to know how my work ties into faith, then this is your chance. Come. Eat. Talk. If you are someone who has only thought of Christian art as something with a cross slapped on it, then I invite you to have a deeper conversation and learn that there is so much more to say visually and so many ways to say it. There is a conversation happening for those who are willing to stop and see it. There will be written explanations of how and why certain elements are in my art. Mainly you will see how I deal with the concept of spirit or nonphysical, as well as how I deal with the concept of transformation. Afterall, that is the very essence of what our faith sets upon us. We are transformed."

✨ Half of all sales will go towards the Mosaic Commons Capital Campaign. If you aren't interested in purchasing, still join us for a bite to eat and an evening in fellowship! ✨
