About TAV AHK
The Artists Village Singapore contemporary art history klub (TAV-AHK) is a group inquiry on art exhibitions and practices.
The art history club connects on both online and in-person platforms to collectively survey the country’s kaleidoscopic cultural scene through many threads of open art thoughts. This art history club aims to spur casual opinions, share resources of interest, and review art developments in Singapore.
TAV envisions this art history club as an accessible space where assorted voices participate in a mesh of localised art commentaries.
About TAV
The Artists Village (TAV) is one of Singapore’s first art colony and a contemporary art group. It was established in 1988 and registered in 1992 as a Society.
The group is historically significant for its contributions to Singapore’s contemporary art scene, particularly for its engagement with societal changes and issues during the late 1980s and 1990s.
TAV is known for its focus on performance art, installation art, and process-based work. The original space of TAV was a chicken farm located at Lorong Gambas in Ulu Sembawang, which has since been redeveloped.
TAV played a pivotal role in introducing installation and performance art to Singapore’s contemporary art scene.
TAV also organizes exhibitions, Happenings, and symposia.
In 2008, the Singapore Art Museum held a retrospective exhibition titled The Artists Village: 20 Years On, which examined the collective memories of TAV and its impact on contemporary art during the 80s and 90s.
In 2022, TAV presented Epilogue during the Singapore Art Week to mark its 30th year. In 2023, TAV was invited to exhibit at the M+ Hong Kong.
