An Art Event at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington Innovation Studio + Store
Come together in movement and light in dark winter days.
During her residency, will be working on Y'All Go Rhythm!, an installation of interactive dance platforms inspired by the dynamic patterns in Persian architecture and the exuberant dancing at Iranian-American gatherings from her youth. Drawing on her cultural heritage, Negar explores themes of hospitality, universal connection, resilience, hope, playfulness, and release. She invites you to feel the movement and dance, as you feel inspired.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
makes dynamic, ornate paintings and interactive multimedia works that are inspired by artistic influences of her family’s Iranian heritage, and by the interconnectivity and shared humanity of these influences. Ahkami holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York and a BA from Columbia University. She has exhibited at museums and galleries nationally and internationally including The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, The North Carolina Museum of Art, the Bronx Museum of Art, and The Walters Art Museum. Her work is in the collections of The New Britain Museum of American Art, Depaul University Art Museum, Wellington Management Company, and others.
