Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Mountain Valley Arts Council will host Nellie McFadden on Saturday, February 8th at 10:30 AM as part of their Art Forums program. Nellie is the owner and only employee of Nellie’s Sweet Treats in Scottsboro where she makes gourmet cupcakes and decorates them in realistic looking flowers. The MVAC Board had her cupcakes at their Christmas potluck and decided to share her treats with others.Nellie was born in Arkansas to an artist father and a musician mother. She was their second of four children. Her favorite art became food. Her childhood was in west Tennessee and east Arkansas areas as her father served as the headmaster and her mother as a teacher at several different schools. When Nellie was 7 years old, her family moved for the last time to Greenfield, TN next door to her maternal grandparents where she lived until she married the love of her life at almost 18. After a year at Memphis State University, she and her husband moved to Scottsboro, AL and raised four children. They now have ten grandchildren.
Come join us at the MVAC Gallery at 440 Gunter Avenue in
Guntersville and enjoy a gourmet cupcake by Nellie. If you plan to come, please call the gallery at 256-571-7199 so we can make sure to have enough cupcakes.
