Join the Sunset Celebration opening night to celebrate the 40th anniversary of one of Key West's unique traditions. "40 Years of Sunsets" will show the history of the iconic Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square, how the tradition of celebrating the setting sun–a practice dating back to the 1830s–evolved into a nightly festivity uniting people from all walks of life. The exhibition will also showcase Sunset partipants' artwork, including wire and wooden sculptures, paintings, handcrafted jewelry, fiber art, and comic books.
The Sunset Celebration has long supported local artists, providing a platform for them to thrive and share their talents, and is a part of Key West culture that contributes to the magic of our community.
A portion of sales will be donated to the Key West Cultural Preservation Society, the nonprofit in charge of operating the Sunset Celebration.
