The third art Based examinations of the chakras with Springville Center for Arts - independent immersive sessions using color studies and exploration of multiple media to understand the roles or our personal energy centers and their practical potentials in creative practice and art making. In this session we’re diving into “I Can,” the Solar Plexus Chakra, which governs our personality, ego, personal power, authority and authenticity. Manipura is our seat of personal power and is associated with the color yellow. We’ll explore this center and tie in the concept of vitality, strength, discipline and enlightenment by learning and working with Enso - a color meditation in yellow using gouache and sumi ink. The Japanese Enso circle, the perfectly imperfect circle is prized for its elegance and minimalism. Drawing enso is a highly valued disciplined-creative practice of Japanese sumi-e calligraphy painting. Part of its attraction lies in its deceptively simple single brushstroke execution, making it the perfect tool for meditation, and quiet power.
Chakras are energetic power centers that form an important part of our creative identities, and are accessible through many associations ranging from color, scent and even certain foods. Understanding and unlocking these points have a powerful impact on our ability to feel, embody our power, speak, sing, dance and create. These workshops are designed to be taken as a series but each class stands alone – previous workshops in the series are not needed to join in the experiences. With Tami Fuller.
