This workshop will teach you several ways to harness the joy of being creative to boost mood, aid relaxation and put worries into the background. We will look at stress free, intuitive approaches to making art that allow you to quickly enter the flow state; being “fully immersed in a feeling of energised focus, full involvement and enjoyment of the process”. The class is taught by local professional abstract artist and experienced teacher Hannah Cawthorne. Her approach to making art is very intuitive and joyful, and she will share it with you in this class.The aim of the class is to equip you with a toolkit of different approaches and inspirations for making art that will provide you with the strong basis for making art for years to come- even if your only have a few minutes each day to make it! As such, rather than one final piece, we will work on several different artworks throughout the day, each with a fresh slant on how to start making work. Some of the work will be quite free and abstract, some will start from some real world inspiration, and all are suitable for artists of all abilities, including complete beginner. We will also be actively trying out a range of different materials and approaches including watercolour and acrylic painting, sketching with pencil, crayon and felt tip, and also using collage. A sketchbook would be very useful for recording these experiments, if you already have one, but plenty of paper will be provided.
