Art and the Outdoor Environment: a Forest School and Art Inspired Workshop
About this Event

This workshop with Jackie Maguire (artist, arts lecturer, researcher) and Trisha MacLaughlin (Sligo Woodland School) will focus on the arts and forest school education approaches by being outside in nature.

We will consider the seasonal things that nature has to offer us during the summer months and how we can explore and be with nature alongside children. In addition, the artistic possibilities that ecology and the outdoor environment can provide children and adults with for starting points of exploration, wonder and awe will be considered.

Together we will:

  • Forage and identify plant and animal species
  • Print with foraged plants
  • Create a shelter using tarpaulin
  • Experiment with light, shadow and drawing
  • Experiment with sound and water
  • Mix and make potions
  • Sing together
