About this Event
In 2025 it will be 200 years since the beginning of the building of the railways, which were responsible for opening up our coastline to the masses for their summer holidays. It was also public transport that drew people away with cheap flights abroad, causing a downturn in the prosperity of our seaside resorts. The opening of new galleries and the introduction of public art is playing its part in striking a balance between traditional and heritage, alongside new investment, and contemporary experiences. This lecture looks at how local communities are preserving their rich heritage, with heartwarming stories and new ways to attract visitors to their seaside resorts.
Jackie Marsh-Hobbs is a historian, lecturer and tour guide. Who locally conducts the Brighton Station tours and Palmeira Mansion tours, in 2024 her Aquarium History Tours won the Brighton Fringe Audience Choice award.
