About this Event
The London EDITION presents Art After Hours, a series of intimate monthly gallery tours curated and led by renowned editor, writer, and consultant Ashleigh Kane.
Taking place ‘after public opening hours’, guests gain a private tour of some of Fitzrovia’s most exciting gallery exhibitions with generous insights from curators, artists, and gallery staff along the way. Ashleigh has carefully picked each tour stop to ensure a breadth of practices and perspectives from emerging and established artists.
On Wednesday, 30 October, guests will meet Ashleigh at The London EDITION lobby at 6 PM and walk to the first stop of the evening. After the tour, guests are invited to return to the hotel, enjoy a complimentary Spritz (or alcohol-free alternative) with Ashleigh, and debrief on the evening.
We will begin at at TJ Boulting, a group show exploring the egg's symbolism through works by artists such as Sarah Lucas, Christopher Chiappa, Francesca Woodman, and more. The exhibition will blend humour, mythology, and social commentary across diverse mediums like sculpture, photography, and performance.
We will then take a short walk to Niru Ratnam for Lydia Blakeley’s solo exhibition which explores 1980s and 1990s corporate culture through office workers performing stress-relief exercises. Inspired by a 1988 stress management book, the paintings juxtapose sterile office settings with plants, reflecting tensions between corporate life and alternate realities. Blakeley captures the era’s allure and emerging cracks.
Our last stop will be to Maximillian William, which celebrates its fifth anniversary with a group show showcasing its incredible roster of multi-disciplinary artists, including Emii Alrai, Coco Capitán, Somaya Critchlow, Jaylon Israel Hicks, Ro Robertson, Magdalena Skupinska, and Reginald Sylvester II.
