ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Claudia Cabrera Olsen, originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, has dedicated her life to promoting inclusivity, community service, and Mexican culture. After studying law in her hometown, she took on the role of a Spanish instructor at the Instituto Cultural de Oaxaca. In 1999, Claudia married her husband Jon and relocated to San Luis Obispo, California.
Her passion for cultural advocacy blossomed in 2003 when she collaborated with Wilshire Hospice to celebrate Día de los Muertos. Since then, Claudia has been a sought-after speaker, sharing the significance of this tradition at various schools across the county, Cal Poly, the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art, and at the Good Morning SLO program.
In addition to her advocacy work, Claudia is a proud breast cancer survivor, a journey that has deepened her commitment to community and resilience. She and Jon are actively raising their two daughters in San Luis Obispo, where they manage a homestay business, further enriching their community ties.
