Mythili Dance Academy, Peoria (MDA) presents "ARPAN" - An Offering and tribute to celebrate the Centennial Year of Guru Kalaimamani Sri. Thanjai Arunachalam Pillai, the grand master of the Thanjai style/bani of Bharatanatyam!! This performance is a collaborative scintillating classical dance extravaganza featuring 40+ dancers including students and senior dancers from MDA, Peoria, Nrithya Sangeeth, Naperville & Natyarpana Dance Academy, Brookfield, WI. Choreographed by veteran Gurus Rama Suresh, Sowmya Kumaran & Kripa Baskaran, every dance number has been carefully chosen from the classics of the Tanjore Quartet repertoire and compositions of Arunachalam Master himself. And each choreography has been woven to reflect the authenticity of the Bharatanatyam art form in its absolute splendor and one that even a novice to this artform would relish and enjoy. Hours, days and several months of practice by the dancers will without a doubt set the stage on fire and showcase a classical dance performance that has never before seen in Peoria! ARPAN is an offering to my Guru, "Kalaimamani" Thanjai Sri. Arunachalam Pillai who was a doyen of the Tanjore style of Bharatanatyam. I am very blessed and fortunate to have been his direct disciple for decades and for having the opportunity to learn the rich Thanjai style of Bharatanatyam and the Thanjai Margam/repertoire from him as well. We as his students are indebted to him for his dedication, knowledge, and love that he has given to every one of us students. Through this program - ARPAN - we honor him and celebrate the Bharatanatyam classical art form that he has infused into the hearts of us, his students.
ARPAN is also an offering to all the Gurus who have helped instill Indian culture into thousands of children around the Midwest area. Because of all of you, Indian culture has become a common sight around the Midwest Area and will flourish for many years to come. We honor all of you.

MDA is a Peoria, IL based dance academy, committed to promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of India by imparting the classical dance form, Bharatanatyam, to Indians and non-Indians, to inculcate this ancient art form, and to enrich the great American cultural diversity.
One of the very first schools for Bharatanatyam in Peoria, MDA has the distinction of bringing out some of the area's finest exponents of this classical art form. A committed group of artists, along with the renowned teacher, dancer, and choreographer Guru Rama Suresh, have engaged in this pursuit for the past 34 years.
