Join us for a conversation between author George M. Johnson and Library Director Diane Kresh about Johnson's memoir manifesto, "All Boys Aren't Blue." In this series of personal essays, prominent journalist and LGBTQIA+ activist George M. Johnson explores their childhood, adolescence, and college years in New Jersey and Virginia. From the memories of getting their teeth kicked out by bullies at age five, to flea marketing with their loving grandmother, to their first sexual relationships, this young-adult memoir weaves together the trials and triumphs faced by Black queer boys.
This author talk is part of the 2024 Arlington Reads spring series, "James Baldwin's Centennial," which celebrates what would have been James Baldwin's 100th birthday in August 2024 with a series of authors whose work is about or influenced by James Baldwin.
The conversation will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Copies of the book will be available for sale, courtesy of One More Page Books.
